Interactive Kiosks

Duraline Angled Accessibility Kiosk

Designed so the same kiosk works for a visitor standing up and a visitor sitting down.

A commercial self-service kiosk in 32", 43" and 50" landscape, designed to CSA/ASC B651.2:25, the current Canadian standard for accessible interactive self-service devices. The frame is 14-gauge steel with an antimicrobial powder coat, for places where the kiosk is used all day and cleaned every night.

Reach, clearance and contrast were set first, and the rest of the enclosure was built around them.

What makes it accessible

Reach and clearance

  • 685 x 430 mm knee space
Room to roll up to the screen
  • 30 degree screen angle
    Readable seated or standing
  • Grab bars on both sides
    Contrasting, slip-resistant, 1.3 kN
  • Cane-detectable head
    Lowest edge at 685 mm
  • Hearing loop and Auracast
    Optional listening package

Ways to use it

  • Infrared touch
    Finger, glove, stylus or prosthetic
  • Anti-reflective glass
    Less glare to read through
  • Tactile keypad
Lit headphone jack and volume key
  • Barcode scanner
1D and 2D, within easy reach
  • Camera and speakers
    4K camera, built-in amplifier

Built for public floors

  • 14-gauge steel
    Sized for heavy foot traffic
  • Antimicrobial powder coat
    Silver-ion additive in the finish
  • Cleanable with bleach
Stands up to a 10% solution
  • 24/7 commercial display
    32", 43" or 50" landscape
  • Lockable pedestal
    Equipment shelf, rear cable entry

Where the numbers come from

CSA/ASC B651.2:25 puts operable controls between 400 and 1,200 mm from the floor. The tactile keypad sits at 915 mm and the scanner window at 1,007 mm, so both fall inside that band on every size.

Knee clearance is 685 mm high and 430 mm deep, enough for a wheelchair to pull square to the screen rather than reach across it. The 30 degree tilt means a seated user is not looking at the display edge-on, and grab bars run down both sides in a contrasting finish.

One thing stays with the application: on the 43" and 50" models the top of the screen is above the 1,200 mm line, so interactive touch targets belong in the lower part of the layout.

Simple to look after

  • Pedestal door locks, and opens for service
  • Equipment shelf sized for a media player
  • Cables enter at the back, with ventilation
  • Two floor anchor points in a 6 mm base plate

Assistive Listening Package

Ordered as part number ASSISTIVE-001. It adds an induction hearing loop for hearing aids with a telecoil, and Auracast broadcast audio for newer hearing aids, earbuds and phones. Spoken guidance from the kiosk goes straight to the visitor's own device, with nothing to collect from a desk and nothing to hand back.

Where it earns its place

Hospitals, airports, campuses and any counter with a queue in front of it.

FAQ

Duraline Angled Accessibility Kiosk Questions

Which accessibility standard is it designed to?

CSA/ASC B651.2:25, the current Canadian standard for accessible interactive self-service devices. You can read more on our accessibility standards page.

Do the WCAG guidelines apply to a kiosk?

Not directly. WCAG 2.1 Level AA is written for websites and mobile applications, and that is what the US Section 504 and Title II rules require. CSA/ASC B651.2:25 does point to WCAG 2.1 for the contrast of text on screen, so the application running on the kiosk still matters.

How does it differ from the standard Duraline Angled Kiosk?

The Duraline Angled Kiosk is a 43" and 55" enclosure with no accessibility standard behind it. This model comes in 32", 43" and 50", and its reach heights, knee clearance, grab bars and contrast are all set by CSA/ASC B651.2:25.

Can we have it in our own colour?

Yes. Signal white (RAL 9003) is standard, and custom colours are available. Every custom colour is checked against the luminance contrast requirements of CSA/ASC B651 for the grab bars and controls before anything is painted.

What does the Assistive Listening Package add?

An induction hearing loop for telecoil hearing aids and Auracast broadcast audio for compatible hearing aids, earbuds and phones. It is ordered as ASSISTIVE-001.

Can it run our existing signage content?

Yes. The pedestal holds a MediaTile player or your own mini PC, so the kiosk runs the same playlists, wayfinding and touch applications as the rest of your network.
