End-CapTV - 6xX Performance with Verizon Wireless
MediaTile Delivers 6X Performance Improvement in "End-CapTV" Digital Signage Broadcasting Using Verizon Wireless EV-DO REV-A
MediaTile Demonstrates Cellular Digital Signage Solution That Integrates Verizon Wireless EV-DO Rev A Broadband Support at National Association of Broadcasters Event
April 16, 2007 - NAB 2007, The World's Largest Electronic Media Show, Las Vegas, Nevada, April 16, 2007 - The MediaTile Company, the first provider of cellular digital signage technology and direct broadcast networks, today announced that it has significantly increased the speed of digital media delivery to its customers' networks by incorporating the latest cellular broadband technology from Verizon Wireless. MediaTile has integrated Verizon Wireless' EVDO Rev-A technology into its cellular-digital-signage solutions and Digital-Sign-In-A-Box™ products. This new cellular-broadband technology delivers nearly a 6 times performance improvement over the previous Verizon Wireless broadband services used by MediaTile. The new system is being demonstrated in the Verizon Wireless Booth (# C1851) at the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, from April 16th through April 19th.
"By Incorporating Verizon Wireless' latest cellular broadband technology into our solutions, we can now provide our customers with a direct broadcast network that rivals terrestrial Ethernet and Satellite network performance, yet without any of the costs and complexities of an on-site network deployment" said Keith Kelsen, CEO of The MediaTile Company. "With the virtual elimination of on-site networking, MediaTiles deliver an incredible amount of marketing power and flexibility - yet they are unbelievably simple and cost-effective to deploy and operate. This makes MediaTile ideal for the new generation of digital signage, and direct broadcasting networks that are popping up everywhere. We are seeing MediaTiles integrated into retail displays and end-caps, in lobbies and waiting areas, convenience stores and pump-tops, banks and health clubs."
"MediaTile and their affiliate narrowcasters are a perfect example of a new breed of out of home networks that are delivering the advantages of both traditional media and new media like eye-catching 'TurboContent' episodes that entertain as well as inform consumers" said Jason Thompson, International Business Manager for IFE and Captive Audience Networks, World Wide Entertainment.
Each MediaTile Digital-Sign-In-A-Box system integrates an embedded computer system, a commercial grade HD LCD display, and unlimited cellular broadband internet services. MediaTiles are collectively, or individually, controlled and managed using a Web-browser and MediaTile's Broadcast Portal to control and manage digital media content, playlists, and scheduling. MediaTiles use a forward-and-store architecture, enabling all content to be resident on each device, thereby providing a skip-free, high-definition customer experience with an uptime guarantee of 99.9%. In a recent announcement by Verizon Wireless, the new CDMA 1x Evolution-Data Optimized ("EV-DO") Revision A ("Rev. A") technology was initially released in the Boston area and is now being "rolled out" to the more than 242 major metropolitan areas in the U.S. that already have access to Verizon Wireless' popular EV-DO BroadbandAccess data services network. In addition, the company announced that their business data service, BroadbandAccess, will run faster and more efficiently with "Rev A" network enhancements. The result, MediaTile networks will realize download speeds of 5 to 6 times faster than that of the current EV-DO network. Whereas a 30 second full motion digital video advertisement could have taken up to several minutes to download and begin playing on a MediaTile network, with the new "EV-DO Rev A" technology, the same advertisement will download an play within a minute.
"With the MediaTile solution, our customers report they can deploy and operate a direct broadcast network in about ½ the time and at about ½ the cost of traditional digital signage or in-store broadcast systems" said Keith Kelsen, CEO of the MediaTile Company. "MediaTile delivers a breakthrough in both Public and Private digital signage and direct broadcast networks. Enterprises, integrators, and narrowcasters have reported that MediaTiles have delivered dramatic sales increases and huge ROI advantages."
MediaTile demonstrated the world's first cellular-digital-signage In October 2004 at the prestigious Demo-Mobile conference. The MediaTile solution has been popular with brand advertisers, integrators, retailers and narrowcasters because it can be deployed independently of any on-site network technology or IT personnel. In 2005, the company won the Industry Top-Ten Award from the Digital Signage Forum organization for its unique solution. In 2006, the company continued its innovative approach by delivering the world's first Digital-Sign-In-Box platforms in 32, 42 and 47-inch configurations, and expanded its deployments worldwide. Today MediaTiles are in use around the globe, supported by more than 13 international affiliate offices utilizing 3G and EV-DO networks.
The MediaTile Company is the world's first provider of cellular-digital-signage technology and turnkey narrowcast networking that enables retailers, brands, enterprises and integrators to deploy direct broadcast networks virtually anywhere and influence millions of consumers where and when they make their purchase decisions.
